- 32 Bed Refuge. All rooms are different to accommodate
different sized families, ranging from single rooms to rooms with four
beds. There is also a ground floor room with an ensuite bathroom
for women and children with specific needs.
- Full-time paid and unpaid workers support women's emotional and
practical needs as well as a full-time childworker to meet the need s
of children.
- An aftercare worker is employed to meet the needs of women who have
moved on from the refuge but need some additional support. This
is done through coffee mornings and items listed below:
Personal development classes
Relaxation classes
Money advice clinic via Citizens Advice Bureau
Legal advice via a solicitor
- We intermittently have lunches, outings and trips for women and
children both in the refuge and those involved in the aftercare
project.
- All women experiencing domestic violence can access support and
advice at the refuge.
- We also have a development office in Antrim for women to drop in or
phone for advice, support and information.
OPENING TIMES - Monday, Wednesday, Friday 10.00am - 1.00pm.
Appointments can be made outside these times. We are in the process
of setting up outreach in smaller towns in the Antrim Borough.
VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES
You can volunteer to be involved in any aspect of our work. for
detais contact either the Ballymena or Antrim office. We offer full
training and cover travel expenses.
APPEALS!
Ballymena Women's Aid provides all women who arrive to us with nothing,
with toiletries and new underwear. This can be a costly provision,
therefore we are always askings for donations of these items as well as
the usual appeals for clothing.
TALKS/INFORMATION
Ballymena Women's Aid is always interested in facilitation
talks/training on domestic violence for church or youth groups as well as
